Framed oil painting on stretched canvas in vintage condition showing signs of wear.
This oil painting is a rendering of Norman Rockwell's famous 'Barbershop Quartet', which was originally published in the Saturday Evening Post on 26 September 1936. Aside from a few differences, the rendering is close to the original.
The painting itself is in good shape. The colors are vibrant and the paint is not cracked. The canvas is tight and there are no bumps in it. The wood frame has some issues that I would like to point out. On the bottom left corner and the left mid side of the frame, there are some stains that are shown with a red arrow in the pictures. It appears limited to the frame and has not affected the painting. On the left side of the frame there is a chipped part, which is also pointed out with a red arrow. It looks as if this painting may have been fixed or balanced inside a larger frame or stand of some sort, because every side of the frame has two unusual small holes. Other than these cosmetic issues, the frame is structurally intact.
In the bottom right corner, it is signed 'D.M.T'.
The painting measures 53 cm (20.8") wide and stands 69 cm (27") tall with the frame. The visible part inside the frame is 43 cm (17") wide and 59 cm (23") tall. The thickness of the frame is 2 cm (0.8") deep.
