Marked on the underside with the 'Maruki' symbol and 'Hand Painted Nippon'.
This particular marking was applied between 1912 and 1921, after which period the US required Japanese makers to mark their porcelain with 'Japan' instead of 'Nippon'.
It is delicately hand-painted with an assortment of flowers and leaves on the inside of the bowl, and the edge of the rim is outlined with a baby blue colored band.
It is in vintage condition, showing signs of wear consistent with its age. As it can be seen in the pictures, the gold trim has worn off completely in some parts of the pattern, while traces of it are still visible in certain parts. There are no chips, cracks or repairs that I have noticed. And there is no observable crazing.
It measures 23 cm (9") in length and is 16 cm (6.5") at it widest point. The middle section with the raised and curved handles are 13 cm (5.1") wide. It stands 5 cm (2") tall at its highest point.
