Rare 1938 Royal Doulton Hiawatha Seriesware rectangular serving tray (Pattern No. D5965).
Introduced originally in 1908 and retired by 1949, this specific piece features the vibrant, revamped late-1930s color palette.
The center displays a beautifully detailed, hand-colored portrait of a Native American chief, flanked by a scenic landscape of tepees under a dramatic sky. The bottom features a scroll with the famous quote from Longfellow’s epic poem: "Never any deed of daring but himself had done a bolder."

CONDITION:
This 88-year-old tray is in very good vintage condition. It has no cracks or repairs and retains bright, rich colors. It rings beautifully, when gently tapped.
• Crazing: There is natural age-related crazing, which is expected for Royal Doulton earthenware of this era.
• Minor Imperfection: There is a tiny flea bite on the underside of the rim that is too small to photograph and can only be noticed by running fingers on the rim.
