Decorative mid-century ceramic plate Grat's Pottery of England, featuring 'Polly Peachum' as part of a pattern series often attributed to 1952.
Polly Peachum, a prominent character from 'The Beggar's Opera' of 1728, became very popular after a 1920s revival of the opera, inspiring a wide range of similar collectibles.
The plate is 20 cm (8") in diameter. It is in good vintage condition, showing minimal signs of surface wear and fading of colors. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.
