Vintage mini 3.25" tall Royal Doulton "Arriet" Character Jug.
Beautifully hand-painted with exceptional detail, this character mug depicts "Arriet" (Harriet), a classic London street vendor or "pearly queen." She features a bright, cheerful expression, a heavily textured green hat, a brown coat, and a vibrant orange-yellow scarf.
Designed by renowned Royal Doulton modeler Harry Fenton, this piece was introduced in the late 1940s and retired in 1960.
The underside has the stamped Royal Doulton lion, crown, and roundel mark. The "A" mark to the left of the crown was used from 1939–1955 to denote pieces allocated for export.
The stamped date code "24" to the right of the crown securely dates this exact piece to 1951 (calculated by adding 1927 to the code number).
As is correct for early 1950s Royal Doulton production, the specific model catalog number is not stamped on the base. Instead, it features the factory backstamp and the original hand-painted brown decorator's mark from the individual artisan who painted her.
This piece is in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The colors remain vibrant. As is typical and expected for genuine mid-century English earthenware of this age, the base displays an all-over glaze crazing, which adds to its authentic antique character.
