Vintage amethyst cloud glass bowl made in England by Davidson Glass Company, featuring their classic rolled rim and ribbed design, known as catalog Pattern No. 1910BD.
"Cloud Glass" is unique because no two pieces are exactly alike. To create this look, glassmakers mixed dark purple swirls into a lighter purple base while the glass was hot and molten. The top rim has a shiny polished finish, while the bottom ridges feature a soft, matte satin finish.
This bowl was originally designed to hold flowers using a matching central insert. Today, it functions well as a standalone centerpiece, a floating candle dish, or a catch-all bowl.
It is 8.5 inches in diameter, and 3.5 inches tall, weighing about 850 grams unpacked.
The bowl is in good vintage condition with no major cracks or repairs. Because it is nearly 100 years old, there are minor pinpoint nicks (fleabites) located on the ribbed flutes on the side of the piece. These are small, standard for antique pressed glass, and do not impact display.
