Stunning vintage Bohemian art glass, hand-blown in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s or 1970s. This organic piece is a textbook attribution to legendary designer Josef Hospodka for the state-owned Chřibská Glassworks.
The versatile biomorphic silhouette functions flawlessly as a heavy vintage cigar ashtray, a stylized trinket catchall bowl, or an abstract modernist tabletop sculpture.
Using the renowned sommerso technique, a vibrant honey-amber core is beautifully encased in a thick, heavy clear glass layer. A rear view highlights a ribbed, fluted interior architecture that catches and magnifies natural light. The item rests securely on a substantial, manually flat-ground triangular polished base—a clear hallmark of authentic, high-quality vintage Czech glass manufacturing.
It is 17.5 cm tall, 11.5 cm wide and 11 5 cm deep, weighing about 1.2 kg unpacked.
CONDITION:
Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, fleabites, or repairs. The glass body remains beautifully bright, translucent, and glossy. The underside of the base shows age-consistent, light surface shelf wear that would be expected from a piece with 50+ years of history.
