Vintage 1978 Delft Blue Wall Plate – Royal Goedewaagen for Douwe Egberts (Plate #4).
Commissioned by the legendary Dutch coffee, tea, and tobacco company Douwe Egberts, this commemorative piece features a highly detailed, hand-painted reproduction of an authentic 17th-century tobacco workshop.
The illustration showcases workers and patrons conducting trade inside a historic merchant shop, complete with traditional scales and storage barrels. The artwork is framed by an ornate cobalt blue floral rim and a striking Old Dutch tobacco trade proverb.
Collector Markings & Provenance:
Front: Brilliant blue-and-white detailing with zero fade.
Backstamp: Authentically hand-marked "4. Delftsblauw Handwerk Made in Holland" under the classic crown factory hallmark.
Gold Foil Label: Features the original corporate authenticity sticker noting that the original 17th-century artifact was housed in the famous Pijpenkamer (Pipe Room) of Douwe Egberts in Utrecht.
