Popularized during the late Victorian era, these bisque porcelain figurines were traditionally placed on upright pianos to securely hold down decorative lace shawls and runners.
This pair features one baby playfully resting on its belly in a crawling pose, while the other rolls happily on its back clutching its feet. Both feature a smooth matte finish, beautifully hand-painted facial details with blue eyes and rosy cheeks, and elegant metallic gold gilt trim along their garments and hair.
Each baby is approximately 9 cm tall, 14 cm wide and 7 cm deep, weighing about 200 grams.
CONDITION:
Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor, expected age-related wear to the gold gilt accents.
This pair is perfect for shelf styling, piano accents, curiosity cabinets, or a unique gift for porcelain collectors.
