An exceptional, mid-century modern Italian art glass centerpiece bowl designed by the legendary Ercole Barovier for the historic furnace Barovier & Toso on the island of Murano, Italy, circa 1950s.
This piece beautifully showcases the rare and highly collectible "Zebrati" (zebra-striped) motif. It features a striking series of emerald-green glass patches arranged radially beneath a thick clear outer casing. The entire composition is densely infused with shimmering 24k gold leaf inclusions (avventurina) and features beautiful, trapped internal air bubbles (bolle) naturally formed during the hand-blowing process.
True to fine Murano art glass from this golden era, the piece was originally issued with a paper/foil label rather than an etched signature. The bottom features the authentic, smooth ground-down pontil scar—a hallmark of master-level handmade craftsmanship.
