Vintage Aynsley bone china teacup and saucer set.
Crafted at the historic Portland Works in Longton, Staffordshire, England, this set commemorates the historic 1959 Royal Visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to Canada for the official opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
This beautifully preserved set features Aynsley's iconic spiral-fluted "pink swirl" exterior finish with an elegant scalloped gold trim. The interior of the teacup showcases a beautiful transfer portrait medallion of a young Queen Elizabeth II framed by a golden laurel wreath and flanked by gilded Canadian maple leaves.
Dimensions:
Teacup: 6.5 cm tall, 10.5 cm wide with handle, 8 cm top opening diameter.
Saucer: 14 cm in diameter.
Weight: Approx 250 grams
Condition Details:
• Overall Condition: Very Good vintage condition. Both the teacup and the saucer retain strong "ping" indicating structural integrity.
• Saucer Back: Features original, authentic factory kiln stilt marks arranged in a wide triangle (inherent to the mid-century Staffordshire manufacturing process). There is one minor, pinpoint surface fleabite on the reverse outer edge that does not impact display or presentation. Please check the photo where these have been pointed at with 3 red arrows.
• Markings: The saucer features the full green printed 1959 Royal Visit commemorative text backstamp. The teacup features the standard green Aynsley England crown mark alongside the handwritten gold gilder/pattern code "1230".
Perfect for collectors of British Royal memorabilia, Aynsley porcelain enthusiasts, or as a striking addition to a vintage tea party display.
