An authentic piece of mid-century Mexican folk art pottery of a crouching rabbit figurine from Tonalá, Jalisco. This piece features the traditional loza bruñida (burnished clay) technique, giving it a beautiful, smooth, satin finish with delicate hand-painted stippling and line work.
The underside features the incised script signature of the master artisan Amado Galván (1898–1954), making this a highly collectible and historically significant piece of 20th-century Mexican ceramics.

CONDITION:
It is in fair to good vintage condition showing wear that is consistent with its 70+ year age. Structurally sound with no large breaks or repairs. There is standard, stable surface crazing and minor superficial fissures on the unglazed base near the felt pads which do not affect structural integrity. There are several small "fleabite" chips and localized areas of surface abrasion where the colored slip has flaked away, revealing the pale natural clay body beneath. This includes a tiny chip on the tip of the nose, scuffing on the left cheek/eye area, and a patch of scraping/flea bites along the lower edge of the hind flank.
