Authentic Mid-Century Polish Folk Art Wall Plaque
This striking, hand-carved wooden wall relief plaque captures the rich tradition of mid-century Polish folk art (Sztuka Ludowa). Carved from a dense, solid piece of rustic timber, it has an excellent substantial weight and showcases beautiful, chiseled texture work on all sides.
A standout feature for collectors is the original vintage paper label intact on the back from the state-regulated artisan cooperative: Rzemieślniczy Dom Towarowy Sp. z o.o. Wrocław, ul. Szajnochy 4. Featuring a hand-written price registry and serial number, this label anchors the piece directly to the historic PRL (Communist-era) artisan economy of Poland.
Dimensions & Weight:
• Height: 29 cm (approx. 11.4")
• Width: 16.5 cm (approx. 6.5")
• Depth: 3.5 cm (approx. 1.4")
• Weight: 600 grams (approx. 1.3 lbs before packaging)
Condition:
This piece features a beautiful aged patina. Please note there is a prominent, natural vertical age crack running down the side profile and edge of the timber block (visible in photos). The wood remains structurally stable, firm, and completely ready to display, but the split is a characteristic part of its rustic, mid-century vintage journey. The price has been adjusted accordingly.
Perfect for collectors of Eastern European ephemera, brutalist wood art, or cozy, rustic cabin decor.
